Fairy Penguin

The Fairy Penguin is only 40cm (1ft) tall and weighs about 1kg (2.2lbs).

It is the smallest penguin species in the world.

They live along the southern coastline of Australia. The fairy penguin goes fishing during the day swimming far into the ocean in search of food. It eats small fish and crustaceans.

Each evening at dusk they scamper onto the beach and waddle quickly to their burrows on the shore.
